The Gospel in 140 Words

Last Sunday, Pastor Troy Dobbs gave us homework: Write the gospel message out in 140 words or less. So here it goes.

God created the heavens and the earth to bring glory to Himself. All things were created good, yet mankind rebelled against God. All mankind is born with a sinful condition that separates us from God. The penalty for sin is eternal death. Because of God's love, Jesus Christ willingly died in our place to save us from eternal death. Jesus was both fully God and fully man; He was perfect and He rose from the dead. When we individually believe in the name of Jesus, we recognize our sinful condition. In that moment, we are saved from eternal death and made into a new creation. The Holy Spirit seals our place in heaven and helps us act more like Jesus. Everything we do should glorify and honor God.
